Client Symptoms (Clients own Words)
Physical:
I have several physical imbalances on the left side of my body; acquired from a handful of injuries and mis-
adventures in my youth:
- Perforated left eardrum at a young age.
- Aged 14, left foot/ ankle got caught on a spinning roundabout in playground badly spraining and twisting it.
By virtue of being young and having an active lifestyle, it seemed to heal quickly and was never really a problem. As I moved into my mid-20s and onward, a lack of strength, stability and balance in the left leg became more apparent. - Aged 16, the top of my ring finger (left hand) was run over and badly cut in an ice skating accident.
- Late teens/ early 20’s I was a regular taker of ecstasy. I remember after one particular clubbing session, the sensation of my mind ‘breaking’ or ‘splitting’ apart, which I later came to experience as a kind of disconnect between the left and right hemispheres of my brain, centred in the left side.
- Late teens/ early 20’s I started to notice double-vision, with my left eye becoming lazy – later diagnosed as diplopia. I have problems maintaining stereoscopic focus (i.e. double vision) whilst reading, especially at night before bed when my eyes are tired.
Mental and Emotional: - Struggle to achieve and maintain the mental focus to ‘finishing things’ – this has been ongoing for many years.
- Feeling blocked creatively.
- Have addictive aspects to my personality.
- Difficulty identifying, expressing and processing deeper, more important or challenging emotions.
Results (Clients own words)

The course of acupuncture helped me to maximise new insights and healing effects I’ve experienced since.
Ordinarily, one might expect to “return to the real world” (of work, routine, responsibilities etc) quite soon after such an experience, forgetting the profound sense of peace, connection, and newly acquired wisdom. This time, I have maintained these positive effects for much much longer. I feel I can fairly confidently put this down to the effects of the treatments.
Post-Treatment Observations
Immediate Effects:
After the first session there was a surprising improvement in my eyesight – I could comfortably focus whilst reading in bed, when my eyes are most tired. Ordinarily, I would have to close one eye, in order to stop myself from seeing double.
After a few sessions, I noticed the left side of my body starting to feel stronger, more stable and better coordinated. I’ve started taking more deliberate movement and actions (e.g. as I’m walking, as I’m lifting and moving things around, as I’m exercising periodically). I’m also more deliberate in my thoughts and speech. Mental focus is gradually improving.
Mentally:
I’m starting to act more decisively when I have moments of insight and inspiration. I can feel a shift in energy, and greater enthusiasm to tackle tasks that before I might have found daunting, and put off endlessly.
I’m finding myself forming more positive and productive habits, and they feel like less of an effort or chore, compared to previous attempts.
I am experiencing a shift in mindset – becoming more alert, attentive and responsible. This relates, naturally, to aspects of my work, home life, relationship, and family, but also in terms of taking real charge of my creative interests; thinking and planning more carefully, and more long-term.
Long standing issues, poor habits, subconscious and sabotaging thoughts, emotions and behaviours, are all surfacing for examination with ever greater clarity. Being more visible, they become easier to identify and deal with correctly (process).
Physically:
Walking has become an essential activity: I’m starting to experience a real need, and strong desire to be outside walking. As my left ankle and leg stabilise, I am more conscious of how they feel as I walk; my feet feel different in my shoes; lending to a greater awareness of my stance, posture, movement, energy.
A New Perspective:
I am trying to be more considerate, patient (with myself and others) – accepting of my flaws and those of others.
My internal dialogue is different; it’s no longer so one-sided and negative or fatalistic. I can see hope in what I am working towards, a greater sense of purpose and meaning.
Things that are important to me feel more RIGHT than they have before, and I’m more attuned to them.
Making music is a good example – where before I have had a whirlwind of mental chatter, conflicting emotions, and a variety of reasons or excuses not to be in the practice, now I feel more at home and at peace as I’m working and exploring new ideas.
Making decisions – I am getting better at making important decisions with more tact, and more confidence.
I’ve been following my intuition more easily, as it feels more dialled-in, and the feelings and sensations associated with it have grown stronger and clearer.
The treatments have helped me to see where “the work” (inner work) is to be done, and what I need to lean into more. Some examples might include friendships, relationships, parenting, self-discipline, food, exercise, work etc.
If I were to summarise in one sentence…
A new, stronger, and wiser self is emerging from the old, which is currently falling away.
Working Holistically with Acupuncture
The consistency and duration in treatment resulted in a more permanent response. The client came with an open mindset and was clear on the symptoms but also determined to put in the work to ensure progress continued in-between treatments. We worked holistically to understand history, past and current environment, emotions, food etc; various tools were used for a more open dialogue, physical exercise movements were offered, understanding organs and what is impacting them. Capturing developments on both physical and emotional developments were key.
I worked across key meridians to understand blockages however special attention was paid to the Heart, Spleen, Liver meridians whilst focusing on addiction acupoints.
Physical strength, balance and posture became apparent quite quickly in the treatment. Better circulation around the body, brain and head assisted in better eyesight as well as mental focus and clarity. Managing situations of stress and challenges were improved and considered in a more pragmatic manner.

Looking Forward
Over the course of the Acupuncture Treatment as well monitoring the changes he went through in the Results section (above), it also resulted in balance of work vs life. So much so that my Client has more control and management of his time, focus on purpose and can concentrate on his passions for family, social time, music, food, hobbies outside of work.
