I’m Often Asked Why Acupuncture?
We have forgotten how incredible our bodies are in healing themselves, fighting disease, protecting us from infection. Our bodies are unique. We all have our experience of trauma, emotions, accidents which have impacted us differently.
Acupuncture targets the root cause helping your body to heal itself. The human body has thousands of acupoints all over it. When these acupoints are massaged, if heat is applied or treated with acupuncture, a healing effect is invoked. By improving circulation, removing blockages, and encouraging your body to release endorphins, acupuncture can heal your pain, release your stress & bring it back into balance.
What Is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a healing practice which has evolved over thousands of years, dating as far back as c. 1100BC. It requires penetrating the skin with thin hair-line needles. The human body has thousands of acupoints (acupuncture points) which are connected by channels or meridians.
To briefly touch on the philosophy behind the healing practice of acupuncture it is believed the human body is a component part of the universe; just as the Earth looks to harmonise itself so too does the body, a state of yin and yang. Therefore the environment we live in; the air we breathe, the lifestyle we live, the food we eat and the emotions we feel all effect us in ways unique to us.
